Missouri: My Proposed Map for 2021
My Missouri 2021 Map: St Louis Detail
This map moves the First District deeper into North St. Louis County. It rebalances the First District's population and retains its plurality-minority status, but it also makes the Second District more Republican by moving its most Democratic precincts into the First. The map below divides St. Louis City and County and parts of St. Charles County with a more north-to-south orientation. It makes both the First (blue) and Second (green) district majority-Democratic, which would make Missouri's Congressional delegation more proportional to the state's voting patterns. However, in so doing, it eliminates a plurality-minority district. In this map, both the First and Second districts are more than 60% white. Incidentally, the "puzzle piece" connection between the Third (purple) and Second (green) districts is done to keep the cities of Wentzville and O'Fallon "whole" within a single district. The map below also eliminates the "layer cake" pattern of districts in South St. Louis County and Jefferson County in the current map.
My Missouri 2021 Map: Kansas City Detail
This district can be made more compact by moving more of Eastern Jackson County into it, along with a small piece of Clay County to the north. The "puzzle piece" extending at the southeast corner of the district is the City of Lee's Summit.
Missouri 2021: GOP Gerrymander
Rumors abound that the Republican supermajority may try to eliminate the Democratic Fifth District in Kansas City by absorbing it into two rural districts. The map below shows what that may look like.
