Civic Education: Filling the Gap

Between 10 and 15 years ago, Political Science teaching was abuzz with talk of a renewed interest in civic engagement.  I was part of this trend, partnering with retired U.S. Senator Bob Graham during my sabbatical to develop a curriculum for high schools.  We learned a lot during this time about how much more complicated this was going to be than we had imagined.  Since then I have re-tooled, still teaching the original curriculum in classes where it is a fit but developing a new civic education curriculum to fill the gap between traditional curricula and civic engagement.  Read all about it in my latest MPSA blog entry.
